    1. About TaxKiln

TaxKiln is an independent editorial publication providing free, statute-grounded US tax information and stateless in-browser calculators. TaxKiln is not a CPA firm, law firm, Enrolled Agent practice, tax-preparation service, financial advisor, broker-dealer, or registered investment adviser. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, tax, accounting, investment, or other professional advice.

    2. No professional-client relationship

Your use of this site, reading any article, running any calculator, or contacting us does not create a CPA-client, attorney-client, fiduciary, advisory, or any other professional relationship between you and TaxKiln, its operators, contributors, or affiliates. Communications submitted through this site are not privileged or confidential.

    3. Educational use only

All content — articles, calculators, decision frameworks, sample letters, and templates — is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. Tax law is complex and fact-specific. You must consult a qualified CPA, Enrolled Agent, tax attorney, or other appropriately licensed professional before making decisions based on anything you read here.

    4. "AS IS" warranty disclaimer

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THIS SITE AND ALL CONTENT, CALCULATORS, AND MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. TaxKiln does not warrant that calculator outputs match the calculations performed by the IRS, any state department of revenue, or any tax software.

    5. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TAXKILN, ITS OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION UNDERPAYMENT, OVERPAYMENT, PENALTIES, INTEREST, LATE-FILING CONSEQUENCES, AUDIT COSTS, LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOST SAVINGS — ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR RELIANCE ON ANY INFORMATION OR CALCULATION PROVIDED, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TAXKILN'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100).

    6. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TaxKiln, its operators, contributors, affiliates, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of, or reliance on, the site or any content; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any law or regulation; or (d) your infringement of any third-party right.

    7. Calculator outputs are estimates

Every calculator is a model. Results are estimates only and do not account for every deduction, credit, election, state-specific rule, or fact pattern that may apply. Do not file returns, pay estimated taxes, or make planning decisions based solely on a calculator output. Always confirm with a qualified professional and the current IRS and state guidance.

    8. Sample letters and templates

Any sample correspondence, template, or form on this site (for example, penalty abatement request letters) is illustrative only. You are responsible for verifying all facts, citations, and applicability to your situation. Use does not create a professional-client relationship.

    9. Third-party links

The site may link to third-party resources (e.g. IRS.gov, state departments of revenue, professional bodies). TaxKiln does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party site.

    10. Intellectual property

All editorial content is protected under the US Copyright Act. You may share links freely. You may not reproduce, republish, or redistribute substantial portions of the content without prior written permission.

    11. Governing law & venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

    12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last reviewed" date below. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

    13. Error correction policy

TaxKiln editors review every guide on a rolling basis and reissue pages when statute, IRS guidance, or state law changes. If you spot a factual error — a wrong rate, a stale threshold, a misstatement of law, or a calculation that does not reconcile — email hello@kilnguides.co.uk with the page URL and a short description. We aim to acknowledge corrections within 5 business days and to publish a fix (with an updated "Last reviewed" date) as soon as the change is verified against primary authority. Substantive corrections are logged in the page history; minor copy fixes are made silently.
